The idea for the Aunt Hack Swim Club (AHSC) was born in 1961, when several residents of Aunt Hack Ridge Estates came together to propose a dedicated recreational area for their growing community. Their vision centered on creating a welcoming space on Aunt Hack Road where families could gather, swim, and enjoy the summer months together.
By July 3, 1962, a mortgage deed was signed, and plans for construction officially began. The proposal outlined a 1.5-acre site for a swim club, with an additional 2.5 acres reserved for future recreational use – a ballpark was even proposed!
At the time, the estimated cost to bring the swim club to life was $26,500—a significant investment that included $14,000 for the construction of the main pool and wading pool, and $12,500 for necessary infrastructure such as fencing, electrical work, a well and pump, plumbing, septic system, bathhouse, landscaping, and permits.
Over the years, AHSC has continued to evolve while preserving its original community spirit. The cabana was rebuilt in 2000, giving the club a refreshed and functional gathering space. More recently, in 2015, the pool underwent sandblasting and replastering to ensure continued safety, durability, and enjoyment for its members.
Thanks to the dedication and vision of its founding members, as well as the ongoing support of the community, AHSC has grown into a treasured neighborhood tradition. It remains a beloved summer gathering place for families and friends more than 60 years later.
